Tips for going on a business trip

Training

Before you go on any trip, make a clear plan, no matter how creative you are: what you need to do at your destination, what to bring with you, where to visit, with whom to chat - and all this with attendances and passwords.
1. Tickets, reservation of accommodation - in advance

Start your preparation by buying tickets and booking your accommodation. Because in advance - more reliable and cheaper. For reinsurance against delayed or canceled flights, it is advisable to take tickets with the expectation of buying the next one in the same direction with minimal expectation.
2. A minimum of things

Even if you are not one of those who wears a black T-shirt and jeans all year round, take a minimum of things with you - only the most necessary. Think in advance of the wardrobe and take only it. You most likely don't need to wear something new every day. Plus bulky bags either have to wait a long time, or they can be accidentally lost (if you drop them in your luggage at the airport), or you just have to carry them yourself and you don’t know how much and think about why I took so much.

Of the obligatory things - an inflatable pillow, if the trip involves a long sitting.
3. Arrive at the departure point in advance

Given security measures, you should not come to the station or airport at the last minute - this can turn into a real disaster. Only if you are not safe and can take the next ticket with minimal expectation (see point 1).
4. Have a snack before departure

In order not to spit on food that you get in transport, it is better to have a snack at home or before departure, or take a minimal non-perishable snack with you.
What to do on the go

In short - something useful: to sleep or read what is needed for work, or something that always does not have enough time.

Sleep will come faster if it is convenient to sit on an inflatable pillow and put on a lightproof mask over your eyes. If you also hide with your head - unwanted conversations will definitely not bother you.

The only thing you do not need to do on a business trip is to drink alcohol, and even above your norm. Alcohol will do more harm than good. And the proverb “Driving while drunk reduces the distance” may have many unexpected interpretations.
In the thick of things

A trip, even a working one, is a great way to change the atmosphere, learn something new, meet interesting people, diversify work tasks and, finally, take a break from colleagues. The main thing is, upon arrival, do not forget about its main goal and the mission that was assigned to you. All your forces should be directed not by her.

Until the mission is completed, instead of monitoring the entertainment venues, limit yourself to a pleasant pastime while exploring local attractions. And in the absence of those - better relax in the room. Only if monitoring entertainment is not your goal for the trip.

Also be thrifty with valuables, documents, money, collect checks, receipts and tickets if they are needed for accounting reporting.

Do you think that you read the obvious, didn’t learn anything new? And it's great if you really do that, and not exactly the opposite. Work.ua wishes all employees who are mobile to never become a problem employee.
